The Austin Bruins junior hockey team held their final tryout this past weekend in Somerset, Wis. and the 2012-2013 roster has been selected.

The team includes 13 players from last year’s squad that advanced to the NAHL Central Division Finals.

“Our coaching staff witnessed some highly competitive and fast hockey over the three-day tryout, making our job of picking this team very difficult,” Bruins head coach Chris Tok said. “We have thirteen returning players that are excited to be back in Austin for a championship run this season.”

The Bruins will bring back Brandon Wahlin, who had 40 points lasts season and AJ Reid, who has signed with Army last season and had 29 points.

Other returning Bruins include defensemen Michael Bond, Jake Flynn and Kody Reuter, forwards Riley Colvard, Chris Fischer, Nolan Kirley, Colton Kramer, Austin Nelson, John Simonson, CJ Smith, and goalie Nick Leher, who was 9-8 with a save percentage of 91.8 last season.

The Bruins’ season kicks off Sept. 12-16 at the 2012 North American Hockey League Showcase in Blaine, Minn. Action begins at Riverside Arena Saturday, Sept. 29 for the Bruins home opener against the Coulee Region Chill at 7:05pm.
