Farm drainage tutorial Thursday

Published 12:38 pm Sunday, June 10, 2012

Those who are curious about the importance of proper drainage and how to install structures can find out this Thursday.

A field day is scheduled for 10 a.m. to noon on Thursday, June 14, southwest of Grand Meadow, which will feature information on how water control structures work. The event — hosted by Mower Soil and Water Conservation District, The Nature Conservancy and Minnesota Department of Agriculture — will include a demonstration on how the structures function, their purpose and a live demonstration of installation by Boe Brothers Tiling.

From 2009 to 2012, several conservation drainage practices have been installed on a local family farm with guidance from the MDA and Mower SWCD. These projects are working demonstrations of how the practices can fit the landscape.
