ST. CLOUD — The Riverland baseball team must now win three straight games to get to the NJCAA World Series after it lost to St. Cloud Tech. 3-2 in the Region 13 tournament Friday.

St. Cloud hit a two-out, two-run homer in the first inning and it never gave up that early that lead.

Neither team had an error and there were just 11 total hits in the contest.

“It was probably the most well played game of the season by both teams,” RCC head coach Scott Koenigs said. “They made some running, jumping catches that cost us some scoring chances and we made some plays too.”

The Blue Devils (36-13 overall) will play Rochester in an elimination game Saturday at 11 a.m. and the winner of that contest would have to beat St. Cloud Saturday and Sunday to move on.
