Southland softball team gets a split at Fillmore Central

HARMONY β€” The Southland softball team had a couple of solid pitching performances as they split a doubleheader with Fillmore Central (5-7 overall) on the road Thursday.

The Rebels (7-4 overall, 6-4 Three Rivers) won the opener 6-2 and dropped the nightcap 6-3.

In the opener, Southland senior Kelli Smith took a perfect game into the seventh inning before she allowed a couple of hits and a walk. In the nightcap, Southland freshman Sam Emanuel allowed just two earned runs, while striking out seven in six innings of work.

β€œThe second game came down to the little things and we had a couple of costly errors,” Southland head coach Greg Schulte said.
