ROCHESTER — The Riverland softball team scored first in both games of a doubleheader but it didn’t help them as they lost the opener 27-5 and dropped the nightcap 10-4 against Rochester Community and Technical College on the road Tuesday.

The Blue Devils (1-13 overall, 1-3 MCAC South) took a 1-0 lead in the first inning of the first game before falling behind 9-1 in the bottom of the first and they led 4-1 going into the fourth inning of the second game before the Yellowjackets posted three runs in the fourth and five more in the fifth.

“We didn’t play all that badly,” RCC head coach Al Eckmann said. “We only had two errors all day and we continue to battle.”
