STEWARTVILLE — The Grand-Meadow-LeRoy-Ostrander-Southland girls team had some big performances as they won the eight-team Glen Amundsen Invite in Stewartville Tuesday.

GMLOS freshman McKenzie Kirtz broke a Southland school record that was held since 1975 when she took first in the 1600-meter run. Kirtz’s record time is 5:29.35 and she won the race by 26 seconds.

Sydney Bendtsen won the 100-meter dash with a personal best time for GMLOS, while Betsy Oswald won the 200-meter dash with a season best time, Elizabeth May won the 400-meter dash with a season best time and Danielle Hanson won the 300-meter hurdles with a season best time.

The Hayfield girls finished seventh in Stewartville and Blooming Prairie took eighth.

In the boys meet, Hayfield’s Hunter Anderson won the shot put, Blooming Prairie’s Gabe Kartes won the triple jump and GMLOS’s Mike Felten won the 400-meter dash.

The GMLOS boys finished fourth, BP took fifth and Hayfield took seventh.
