NIACC sweeps RCC softball team

The Riverland softball team came up with just six total hits as it lost both games of a doubleheader to North Iowa Area Community College (10-18 overall) by scores of 16-4 in five innings and 12-0 in five innings.

Southland grad Kim Craig had two doubles and an RBI in the first game for RCC (3-17 overall).

NIACC 16, RCC 4

RCC hitting: Haley Underwood, 1-for-3; Bridget Bergstrom, 1-for-3, 2 RBIs; Morgan Herda, 1-for-3, RBI; Kim Craig, 2-for-3, 2 doubles, RBI

NIACC 12, RCC 0

RCC hitting: Sara Sundberg, 1-for-3

    Why does it seem like the only players that get headlines or comments on, are players from the Austin area? This is a college team with students from around the state and other states. They all have family and friends that like to follow their accomplishments, but the only news on them is in the box scores at the bottom of the article and those are not always complete when it comes to pitching stats of both games. You need to report on all players. If the comments are coming from the coaching staff, then they need to expand their horizons beyond the Austin area or it will get tougher to recruit players from outside the area. Go Blue Devils!!!
