Local conservationists are heading to the steps of the Capitol in St. Paul on Wednesday.

The Izaak Walton League, Austin Chapter, along with other local conservation groups, will depart by bus at 7:45 a.m. Wednesday from the Oak Park Mall parking lot near KFC. While roughly 30 people are going to talk about sulfide mining, water quality, Legacy amendment funding, licensing fees, clean energy and other conservation issues, about 20 more seats are available. The bus should return around 5 p.m.

Dave Cole, Izaak Walton member, said this is roughly the third year that local conservationists have gone to the Capitol to raise key points about the earth and natural resources.

“It’s really great to have a dialogue with your representatives,” Cole said. “They appreciate any type of face-to-face, email or telephone (conversation).”
