First tour quickly approachingPublished 4:08pm Saturday, March 3, 2012
As we turn the calendar over to March, we are already thinking about spring flowers, leafing through seed catalogues and making plans for the outdoors.
It’s like a hibernation for us here, only with many happenings still going on. This has indeed been an unusual winter.
We are also making plans for the Spring, with our first tour planned for March 29 when we will take a motor coach trip to Bachman’s Flower Gardens in Minneapolis.
We will have a guided tour where we will learn about the new varieties of flowers and enjoy smelling all the new blossoming plants.
Then we will continue to downtown Minneapolis to the Macy’s Annual Flower show with elaborate settings with the “Tower of Flowers,” as this year’s theme. The balance of the day will be spent downtown for lunch and free time for travelers.
•April 26: “Art in Bloom” at the Minneapolis Institute of Art Show. An annual three-day weekend in their 29th year, this festival showcases fresh floral arrangements and fine art. Highlighting the talents of more than 150 floral artist whose work will be on display next to the works of art that inspired them. You’ll experience the floral fragrance throughout the museum along with lectures and demonstrations. Time will be made available for a tour and you will have time on your own to browse in the Art in Bloom shop. The afternoon will be spent at the International Market near by.
Both of these will give us a real inspiration to try new ideas or just to enjoy the moment.
