MASON CITY, IOWA — The Riverland softball team out-hit North Iowa Area Community College in both games, but it’s still looking for its first win after losing 10-2 and 9-3 in Mason City, Iowa Thursday.

The Blue Devils (0-10 overall) held a 7-5 hit advantage in the first game and out-hit NIACC 10-4 in the nightcap.

“It was just a little big of everything,” RCC head coach Al Eckmann said. “We got on base, but we just couldn’t drive those runners in.”

Austin grad Robin Arjes finished with five hits on the day and she hit her third homer in the last four games when she blasted a two-run shot.

Austin grad Sara Sundberg had five hits on the day and she held NIACC to four hits while pitching the second game.

“Sundberg pitched a real good game,” Eckman said. “The wind was a big factor all day and a lot of balls were dropping.”

Southland grad Whitney Bamrick had two hits, and Kim Craig, Morgan Herda and Rachel Donovan each had one hit on the day for RCC.
