Spring brings a full list of stopsPublished 5:22pm Saturday, March 24, 2012
Spring has sprung and we are ready with a list of outings including a couple with flowers.
On March 29, we will take a motorcoach trip beginning with a tour at Bachmans in Lyndale for a behind the scene, guided tour. At our next stop we will head for Macy’s. Each year on the eighth floor a theme is chosen. This year it’s “Towers of Flowers.”
We will walk through their fantasy of real flowers in beautiful settings. The remainder of the day will be spent on your own in the downtown area.
A quick call will still save you a seat. We will be departing at 7:30 a.m. and returning at 5:30 p.m. All of our tours depart from the Wal-Mart parking lot.
On April 26, we visit the Minneapolis Institute of Arts for their annual four days of fresh floral arrangements and fine art Show.
This years’ theme is “Art in Bloom.” You can take a guided tour, demonstration or follow a schedule at your own pace.
This fee is due by April 10, Departure is 7:30 a.m. and we return at 5:30 p.m. We do have space and encourage anyone interested in this new trip to join us.
On May 10, “Church Basement Ladies: A Mighty Fortress is our Basement.: These zanny ladies and their preacher are at it again. The last day to pay is April 17.
On May 20, we will be celebrating 25 years of travel and reminiscing.
What a ride it has been for so many. Its about fun, new destinations and friends made along the way.
We are making a return trip to a often requested trip that includes the German restaurant in Minneapolis, Gasthof Zur Gemultichkeit. This will include a German meal (pork and chicken) along with fun music as entertainment. We will depart at 10:30 a.m. and return about 5:30 p.m.
On June 19, we take in a day with Inge Schmenke at her Villa Commengena near Shellsburg, Ia. Inge will share her story of fleeing from Austria as a young girl. Austrian-born near Vienna, Inge fought through many hardships with her family to flee the Russian army and make their way to Canada to start a new life that ends up on a Iowa farm.
Inge has become a popular speaker with mixed groups, business and professional organizations, her light touch makes her talks humorous and informative one-woman show. Our day with her will include a tour of her Austrian style home and flowers, gift shop and a Austrian buffet dinner. Served with the most elegant settings.
Our Austrian lunch menu was personally made by our hostess. This trip is also a reunion of sorts as Inge escorted our travels to her homeland and other countries surrounding Austria. We will be departing at 8:15 a.m. for this trip. Sign-ups have begun.
A reminder that the fall trip to the Smoking Mountains show trip and Pigeon Forge deposit is due by May 1.
