Local author’s books in print after successful online run

Amanda Hocking, the internationally known Austin author, is about to release her first book in the Trylle Trilogy.

The paranormal romance author’s first Trylle book “Switched” will be released Jan. 3. Hocking is known for her self-publishing prowess, selling more than $2 million in e-book sales on Amazon with 10 novels — including “Switched” — online. “Switched” marks the first time one of her self-published novels will be released in print.

Hocking’s story is well known by now. The 27-year-old spent years writing and rewriting books, always dreaming of becoming an author. She’d been thinking about paranormal novels before the “Twilight” craze hit the pop culture scene, but the vampire mania helped her decide on paranormal romance as a genre she could have fun with. Since then, she has written about teens and vampires, troll princesses, zombies and more.

Hocking will hold a book signing Jan. 10 at Barnes & Noble in Rochester for “Switched.” She’ll also be on the talkshow “Anderson” with Anderson Cooper at some point next month, according to her Twitter feed.

The next two books in the Trylle Trilogy, “Torn” and “Ascend,” will go on sale Feb. 28 and April 24, respectively. The Trylle Trilogy was optioned for film earlier this year.
