The American Red Cross, Mower County Chapter has set dates for August blood drives.

Every two seconds someone in the United States needs blood, with more than 38,000 blood donations needed every day, according to the Red Cross.

The blood collected in Mower County stays in the county.

Blood drives will take place Monday, Aug. 15, 1-7 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 16, from noon to 6 p.m. and Wednesday, Aug. 17, from noon to 6 p.m.

All three blood drives will take place at Sterling State Bank (1419 First Ave. SW) in Austin.
