Dexter home destroyed by fire

A Dexter home started on fire and was fully engulfed in flames early Monday morning around 2:30 a.m.

The home, owned by Gina Grundmeier and located at 64456 230th Street in Dexter, was fully engulfed when Mower County deputies and area fire departments arrived on the scene.

Grundmeier and her two children, ages 11 and 16, were standing outside the home when deputies arrived. Grundmeier told officers that they had been woken up by smoke detectors and the smell of smoke.

The three were treated for smoke inhalation by Gold Cross but were not transported to the hospital.

The cause of the fire is unknown at this time and there is currently no damage estimate.
