The Austin Blue Sox ended their regular season, defeating Waseca 14-4 in eight innings Friday night at Marcusen Park.
Austin jumped to a 5-1 lead early and scored in every inning there after except for just two.
“We got ahead early and cruised  from there,” coach Josh Kunze said. “We had an opportunity to end the season big and roll into the playoffs.”
Weston Hanson pitched five innings to get the win, striking out six, giving up four hits and two walks. He gave up just two earned runs.
“He struggled with his control sometimes, but it was nice to see him throw a lot of strikes,” Kunze said.
“We pride ourselves on being a deep team,” he said. “We’re clicking on all cylinders right now.”
Dan Swift, Craig Selk and Aaron Port all went 2 for 3 on the night. Swift had a homerun and three RBI’s while Selk had a double and two RBI’s. Port scored  twice  and had a stolen base.
Austin will host Waseca Sunday night, playing at Marcusen Park at 6 p.m.
A coin flip was held after the game to determine seeds two through four with the Blue Sox taking the No. 1 seed outright in 2B.
The Austin Greyhounds will host Rochester Sunday at a time to be announced.
