Lucille Nelson, 83
Lucille Nelson, 83, formerly of Austin, died at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Brainerd on Sept. 4, 2008.
She was born Sept. 12, 1924 in Isle, Minn., to Eddie and Sophie (Twait) Sogge. She grew up in southern Minnesota and attended school in Lyle, graduating from Lyle High School in 1942. She volunteered at the Austin Hospital before her marriage to Morris Nelson on Dec. 25, 1942 in Lyle. They made their home in Onamia, Lyle, Chatfield, Austin, Anoka and Crosslake. After Morris retired in 1982, they wintered in St. Cloud, Florida. Morris passed away on Dec. 24, 2005. Lucille enjoyed her family & friends, traveling, painting, gardening, shopping, houseboating & fishing.
Survivors include three sons, Clyde (Sandra) Nelson, Howie in the Hills, Florida, Larry (Kimberly) Nelson, Princeton, Douglas (Marlene) Nelson, Crosslake; grandchildren, Curt (Susan) Nelson, Stacy Sampson, Leah Taflinger, Jeff Nelson, Kari (Shawn) Eklund, Matt (Reysol) Nelson, Scott Nelson, Erin (Aaron) Anderson, Luke (Kyla) Nelson, Kayla (Ryan) Schulz, Christine (Daniel) Nienaber, Lisa McBroom; great-grandchildren, Jason, Eric and Alex Nelson; Coby Sampson; Alisha and Tonya Carroll; Tazzma and Josiah Taflinger; Megan and Mark Nelson; Bryce, Wesley and Lyndsay Frisch; Ema & Katie Eklund; Christian Flasche, Theis Nelson; Lyle Nelson; Braden and Jackson Nienaber; Hunter & Hannah Anderson; sisters, Phyllis Erickson, Lila (David) Overbaugh; brothers, Donald (Donna) Sogge; dear friend, Sylvia Hiller, Princeton; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Morris; and brother Eugene Sogge.
There’s a special place in heaven for the mother of three boys. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, September 7, 2008 at Six Mile Grove Lutheran Church near Lyle with the Reverend Lydia Mittag officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the service. Worlein Funeral Home in Austin is in charge of arrangements. Interment is at Six Mile Grove Cemetery near Lyle.
