There will be an informational meeeting at the Austin Public Library on June 16 at 7:30-9 p.m. to establish an Austin and surrounding area Church League Fastpitch Softball League.

The meeting will be open to all churches to send a representative to help discuss the probability of becoming a member of this organization.

As a follow-up there will also be a second and third meeting to formulate the bylaws to govern, and start playing in June of 2004.

Dave Cole wins third time trial of young Bikin' Barney's season

Dave Cole won his third consecutive time trial to start the season with a time of 35 minutes, 47 seconds in the Bikin' Barney's Time Trial Series 2003. The course was 14.5 miles long.

Finishing in second place was Greg Storey in 36:27, followed by Dave Newman in third at 39:48. Rounding out the five-man field was Jerry Ulwelling at 40:03 and Roe Erlandson at 40:38.

Riverland boosters have one golf fundraiser event remaining

The Riverland Community College Athletic Booster Club Golf Event has extended to the Albert Lea community this year. The fundraiser, an 18-hole best shot tournament, will be held Monday, June 16, at 12:30 p.m. at Green Lea Golf Course. Golf and dinner is $55. Dinner-only option is $15.

Women's sand volleyball tourney being put on in Owatonna

Sign up now for a women's sand volleyball tournament on June 28 at Plaza Morena in Owatonna.

Team registration is $145. The event features pool play followed by a single-elimination tournament. The first-place team wins a trophy and T-shirts, and there is a trophy for second place as well.
